How Should We Respond in an Unfair World? 2500 Year-Old Advice… — 6 Comments

  1. Thanks for helping us see the refuge and perspective we receive and maintain by drawing near to God–ungodliness loses its intimidating power when we are refreshed in that place.
I wonder what the music sounded like that Asaph crafted as he articulated these wise words.

    • Thanks Keith. The Lord is our infallible strong tower! I’ve also often wondered what the original music sounded like. Perhaps one day we will find out!

  2. Thank you for the encouraging words. When I try and figure things out I get lost in the confusion. I try not to over think things but build on my trust in Jesus. Helps too to be reminded there is nothing new under the sun.

    • Thanks for sharing, Carol. Yes, I suppose this is the same old self-centered brokenness that came into the world on the very first day that Adam and Eve ate that fruit.

  3. Personal injustice is hard to ‘put at rest.’ The desire to clear the misunderstanding, the dismissal of concerns or even our name rises up as a human response. We can allow it to continue to do its damage, roiling over and over in our hearts or we can look for a healthy way to deal with it. I imagine very few (if any) on the planet have not experienced some measure of real or perceived injustice – but who more than Jesus! I love reading 1 and 2 Peter to get some perspective in what He endured and how He responded, especially 1 Peter 2:19-25. If left unheeded, it does damage personally, in marriages/families, in communities, and as we have seen this week, in our stability as a nation. Thanks for this reminder to seek resolution not in unhealthy and damaging or retaliatory ways, but to seek it in the secret place of the Most High and His sanctuary. He is the Only True Judge, who continues to be the Author and Finisher of our faith.

    • Thank you, Cindy, for your reminders and insights. Yes, if we really believe that God holds all things, including the US government, in His hands, then as you said, we must not try to put it back in our own hands and deal with it ourselves with our sorely ineffective human effort. We must, must, must put our faith into practice and trust God with all our being. We must believe that the Lord will not abandon his followers, but will show us the right path, step by step, as we abide in his presence.
